New Market Study Published: Sanitary Protection in Singapore
Sanitary protection excluding intimate wipes registered a 1% increase in current value sales in 2012 to reach S$43 million. This was slower than the 2% increase recorded in 2011. The slowdown in growth can be attributed to the sales declines in tampons and standard towels, especially without wings. Tampons are not popular among consumers as they are perceived to be invasive. Besides, consumers need to be taught how to use tampons properly, as usage is not as straightforward as towels.
