Mixed retailers, a channel which traditionally offers a wide range of competitively priced items, experienced increased competition from non-mixed retailers such as Mitre 10, Briscoes Homeware, Rebel Sport, Hallensteins Glassons and JB Hi-Fi in 2012. Therefore, coupled with the continued depressed state of the New Zealand economy, mixed retailers faced a decline in sales in 2012.
