Temporary abatement of the political unrest seen in Egypt during the 2011 revolution resulted in 17% growth in the number of arrivals in 2012 compared to the 37% decline seen in the previous year. However, the rise to power of the Muslim Brotherhood was a source of fear for many potential international tourists and continuing political instability related to the country's election results is very likely to have a major impact on the tourism industry during the forecast period.
