New Market Study, "Consumer Lifestyles in France", Has Been Published
French consumers have been increasingly struggling with economic uncertainty brought about by the stubbornly high rate of unemployment and shrinking levels of disposable income. Indeed, between 2008 and 2012 disposable income declined by 4.4% (in real terms) prompting many consumers to cut spending. Regardless, as the economy begins to show signs of recovery, pent-up demand for a wide range of goods and services is expected to drive increased spending, albeit at lower levels than in the past.
