Eyewear posted high value growth in 2013, which was commendable given the slowdown in the Indian economy. The increasing presence of premium branded products, growing per capita income and increasing exposure to Western markets contributed to the growth. The fact that branded eyewear continued to be niche was a further factor as more consumers started opting for good quality, branded contact lenses, spectacle frames and sunglasses.
