In 2013, store cards experienced declines in transaction value and volume, of 9% and 12%, respectively, while cards in circulation dropped by 7%, reaching the lowest level of the review period. These cards suffered as consumers targeted a reduction in their debts. This type of card came under a lot of scrutiny due to the high APRs, which can be up to 30%.
