Due to population growth, growing incomes, and increased marketing by competitors in the category, 2013 growth in current value was stronger than the comparative growth recorded over the review period. Part of the growth is fuelled by the increase in social activities, such as parties and weddings, which is driven by growing incomes among the middle class, whilst the growth in bread is helping to drive the growth of butter and margarine, which are used as complements for bread.
