Argentinean biscuit consumption at 10.4 kg per capita per year is the highest in Latin America and one of the highest in the world. This is because in Argentina, biscuits are a part of the daily diet, and are considered as food rather than as a snack to be eaten between meals, as they are in Europe. Additionally, crackers are eaten both at lunch and dinner, and at breakfast and tea.
