The cheese market remains small in Nigeria, servicing largely expatriates as packaged cheese is traditionally not consumed by Nigerians nor is there much interest. Nevertheless, with an increased presence of expatriates, due to the continued growth of construction and the oil industry, as well as the rapid increase in the number of supermarkets and hypermarkets that are opening in Nigeria, there is expected to be growth in the sales of cheese in volume and current value terms in 2013.
