Volume and value sales of online purchases were boosted by the increasing number of consumers having access to credit/debit cards and the internet. Value sales of internet retailing grew by 8% in current terms in 2013, reaching Dh1.3 billion. to stronger banking provision with eight million debit cards being issued in 2013 (a rise of 14% on the previous year) as well as an increase in the internet penetration rate to 49% contributed to this trend
