Frozen processed food saw current value growth of 19% in 2013, and 12% volume growth. The category continued to generate small volumes as most products are imported, and sales are only in urban areas where a few retailers have the proper facilities to stock frozen products. Algerian consumers tend to prefer fresh food. However, when fresh food prices increase sharply, consumers are increasingly buying frozen food.
