Surface care saw current value sales increase by 2% in 2013, mainly a result of the VAT increase from 23% to 24% in 2013, but also to some extent driven by growing demand for more specialised and premium products. Several new launches and more dynamic categories, such as wipes, added impetus to growth. However, the overall category is mature and private label competition hinders sales from growing more rapidly.
