Exclusive breastfeeding in Egypt was reported at 57% (+3%) in 2012, according to the World Bank. Although breastfeeding has significant importance in Egyptian society, an emerging middle-class drove a 2% increase in powder milk formula consumption in 2012. However, the country's birth rate slowed to 24 per 1,000 inhabitants in 2012, thus set to have an impact on 2013's growth rate.
