Cigarettes in Egypt - New Market Research Report
Following a decline in 2012, retail volume sales recovered in 2013 and posted a 3% gain during the year. On the one hand, this was due to the government taking stronger measures against illicit trade, which has risen in Egypt since the uprising as security in the country deteriorated. On the other hand, innovations such as flavour capsules in addition to more attractive packaging also supported a more positive performance. Flavour capsules proved especially popular among the younger smoking population.
