Sales growth for the review period as a whole was constrained by the impact of the economic downturn over 2009-2010. Sales also continued to be hindered by low consumer purchasing power in Romania and by a declining population, with many young adults in particular emigrating in search of better job prospects. Consumers also often have highly traditional attitudes, particularly in rural areas, and are likely to view many product areas in health and wellness as unnecessary.
