The consistent decline in the exchange value of the South African rand continued to have a negative impact on growth in the numbers of outbound trips in South Africa towards the end of the review period. It remains relatively expensive for South Africans to travel to destinations in Europe and North America as they require considerable amounts of local currency to cover their travel and accommodation expenses.
