Pest control is the regulation or management of a species which has been defined as a pest because it is perceived to be detrimental to health, the environment or the economy. The main types of pest encountered in the UK are rodents (eg rats and mice), flying insects (wasps, moths, mosquitoes), crawling insects, (fleas, cockroaches, ants, bedbugs) and birds (pigeons).
