Sales of toilet care were impacted by unit price declines in 2013 as competition between private label and branded manufacturers grew fiercer. The higher inflow of cheaper imports following the implementation of the Cassis de Dijon law in 2012, and the outlet expansion of discounter chains, Lidl and Aldi, added further pressure on unit prices. This meant that despite an increase in demand witnessed by most categories, retail value sales were limited to overall stagnation.
