Growth of Global CMV Retinitis Market Restricted by Availability of Advanced Anti-HIV Treatments
Cytomegalovirus (CMV) retinitis, a viral inflammation of the retina, is caused by a member of the herpes-type viruses group. Typically common among people with weakened immune systems, serious CMV retinitis can occur as a result of bone marrow transplants, AIDS, organ transplants, drugs that suppress the immune system, and chemotherapy. People who are HIV positive are most at risk of being affected by CMV retinitis due to the low CD4 cell count.
