Self-service cafeterias remained underdeveloped with few players and only 39 outlets in 2012. The format shows few competitive advantages because economy restaurants tend to provide similar food with better service and sometimes lower prices. Venezuelans prefer full-service at table whenever budget and time allows visiting a restaurant. In addition, labour costs are lower in Venezuela than in developed countries, so non-fast food players prefer to provide full-service at the table.
