This report provides an extensive analysis of the current trends and emerging estimations & dynamics between 2016 and 2023 of the specialty malt market.

Portland, OR -- (SBWIRE) -- 08/24/2017 -- Germinated and dried cereal grains are termed as malt, and the process of producing it is known as malting. The seeds are germinated by soaking in water and then dried by hot air to discontinue the germination process. The cereal grains commonly used for malting are barley, wheat, rice, oats, and rye. Malts are broadly classified into two types: diastatic (malt containing active enzymes) and nondiastatic (malt with inactive enzymes). Based on this, the malt is differentiated into base and specialty. Base malts have enough diastatic power (i.e., amount of enzymes present) to convert their own starch into sugar, while specialty malts have less diastatic power but provide more flavor & color to the finished product. Malt is used as a raw material to produce alcoholic beverages and numerous bakery & confectionery products as well.

The specialty malt segment accounted for the major share in the global malt market as the demand for specialty malt products is continuously growing for the production of beer and other alcoholic drinks. Increase in popularity of craft beer and the rich texture & flavor provided by specialty malts drive the specialty malt market. However, changes in climatic conditions affecting the cereal production may restrict the market growth. However, the emerging markets of Asia-Pacific and Africa provide several opportunities for growth and development of specialty malt market.

In July 2012, the French brewery Bruichladdich, which was acquired by House of Remy Martin Cognac, reported an operating profit by 26.7%, marking its second year with double-digit profits. The Bruichladdich Distillery mainly produces single malt Scotch whiskey.
