Memex was founded in 1992 with a vision to improve the way automated machine tools work and connect on the factory floor. Memex Electronics evolved into Memex Automation and is still making circuit boards - but the vision has expanded to include the networking of all machine tools so that they can communicate with each other and with the computers in the administration office. In fact, the network may be extended to the Internet, allowing productivity and other statistics to be emailed to a PDA, or laptop anywhere in the world.

Memex understands the need to be more competitive and get the maximum throughput with your machine assets in manufacturing. To be able to "visualize" how your machines are operating allows customers to react quickly to situations. Measuring what actually happens on the shop floor allows manufacturing and industry leaders to tune processes using lean manufacturing techniques. Apply the Theory of Constraints principle by monitoring and identifying a constraint. Improve operator productivity and satisfaction by helping them perform faster and reduce their data collection overhead using automatic and accurate tracking systems. OEE - Overall Equipment Effectiveness is the key performance indicator that drives this machine monitoring process.

The reality is that while every product may be unique, most of the individual operations that go into making a product are very similar. These operations depend on the two most expensive assets of any manufacturing company: the equipment located on the shop floor and the people that operate it.
