Saudi Arabia has an oil-driven economy, as for several years the country has been dependent on oil and related sectors for economic growth. However, focus has shifted to development of other sectors such as tourism in order to decrease dependence on oil, particularly after the global financial crisis of 2009 when the oil sector declined at a rate of 9.0%. The move will also create employment opportunities in sectors other than oil within the country. Tourism in the country is significantly dependent on religious tourism and has witnessed an increase in the number of pilgrims over the years.

The Brazil Tourism Report examines the significant long-term potential being offered by the local tourism industry, especially as the country is to host first the FIFA Football World Cup this year and then the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro in 2016. However, the report also highlights long-term structural weaknesses facing Brazil's tourism market, particularly in the realm of national transport infrastructure and the shortage of hotels across the country. The latter issue indicates long-term development potential but could lead to supply shortages during the 2014 and 2016 sporting events. The report also analyses the growth and risk management strategies being employed by some of the leading hotel players in the Brazilian tourism sector as they seek to maximise these tremendous growth opportunities.

The number of trips in arrivals grew by 8% in 2011 and by 4% in 2012 while incoming tourist receipts grew by only 3% in 2011 and by 2% in 2012 in current value terms. In constant value terms incoming tourist receipts suffered a decline of 4% in 2012. One of the main reasons for this was the expansion of low cost carriers which appealed to less affluent tourists who were eager to travel for short periods of time, for example long weekends. This trend gathered pace in 2012 after the bankruptcy of national air travel company Malev Hungarian Airlines Rt as low cost carriers stepped in rapidly to occupy the gap. According to trade sources, tourists who fly with low cost carriers, in particular young single consumers, tend to have a modest travel budget thus they often opt for very affordable travel accommodation and they tend not to visit restaurants.

Compared with 2012, when large cooking appliances benefited from the impulse of the home-cooking and chef trends, 2013 saw a sudden disinterest in such activities. The multiplicity of cuisine-related reality TV shows may have led to some saturation amongst the population. Besides, with the economic downturn, French households shifted their priorities to more prudent patterns of consumption, deferring their desire for a fully-equipped kitchen, for instance, to a later time. Renewed thriftiness thus led to lower growth rates for the most dynamic categories - built-in large cooking appliances, ovens and cooker hoods - whilst worsening the decline for cookers.

The number of visitors to tourist attractions in Hungary grew by 1% in 2012 while value sales of tourist attractions grew by 3% due to increases in the pricing of entry tickets and growth in the number of inbound visitors, which compensated for the decline in number of domestic visitors. The number of domestic visitors to tourist attractions declined in 2012 due to the limited budget among Hungarians for travelling as a result of which many domestic tourists opted to visit the capital city, Budapest, less often. This city is the most endowed city in Hungary with tourist attractions.

The share of trips of 0-3 days of number of trips in departures increased in 2012 to 49%. This increase was supported by the increasing accessibility of outbound destinations due to the activities of low cost carriers and the variety of last minute and "pre-season" holiday offers from travel retailers. In 2012 there was increased preference among Hungarian consumers to book outbound holidays well in advance in order to benefit from the discounts offered by low cost carriers and travel retailers. The trend of last minute purchases of outbound holiday packages continued to grow in 2012 due to the inability of many Hungarians to plan their trips in advance as a result of their strict employment conditions.
