Harrison College Announces New Scholarships for Spouses and Dependents of Military Service Members

Jason Konesco, president of Harrison College, has announced that the College is accepting applications from current and potential students who are spouses or dependants of military service members. There will be up to 20 scholarships of $2500 each awarded in 2012, with ten scholarships being awarded in May and ten more in November. Students must apply online by March 31, 2012 for the scholarships that will be awarded in May. The application process will reopen in June with a deadline of September 30, 2012 for the scholarships that will be awarded in November 2012. Recipients will receive an award of $2,500 to be divided evenly over the first four terms of their enrollment at Harrison College. To be considered for the scholarship, applicants must submit a 500-word essay describing how military life affects the decision of a service member’s spouse or dependent to pursue a post-secondary education.

Harrison College and McGraw-Hill Education Partner to Offer Career and Business Training

The Chef’s Academy Hospitality and Restaurant Management Program to be Offered Completely Online

The Chef’s Academy, the Culinary Division of Harrison College, a 109-year-old, nationally accredited institution that offers 38 degree programs in five schools of study, has announced that its Bachelor of Science degree in Hospitality and Restaurant Management is now offered completely online. The program is designed to develop the necessary knowledge and skills to begin a career path toward management in the hospitality and food service industry. All online courses have a special emphasis on management skills such as problem solving, forecasting, strategic planning, team building and human resource management. The online curriculum, launched in October, provides students with a great deal of flexibility in their course load and is ideal for anyone currently employed in the industry.

Harrison College Announces Scholarships Available for High School Students

Jason Konesco, president of Harrison College, has announced that the College is accepting applications from high school students for four available scholarships until Dec. 31. Open to all high school seniors graduating by June 2012, these opportunities include one full tuition to be applied to a Harrison College associate degree, one half tuition scholarship for an associate degree, and two $2,500 scholarships to be applied to the recipient’s tuition. Applicants must submit a 500-word essay describing “Why you are a career focused and success driven student,” one letter of recommendation from a school or work reference (i.e. teacher, coach, manager, counselor), and one letter of recommendation from a relative (i.e. parent, guardian, sibling, grandparent, aunt/uncle, etc.) for consideration.

Dr. Myra Jones, interim dean of the Harrison College School of Veterinary Technology (http://www.harrison.edu), has announced that their Northwest campus in Indianapolis plans to raise $2,000 for Cats Haven, a local no-kill cat shelter, to purchase equipment needed to install a new first floor at the shelter house. The converted Victorian home is in need of many repairs. Students, faculty, and staff from the Northwest campus are planning on installing the floor with guidance from a professional remodeler during the weekend starting Friday, Nov. 18.

Harrison College to Observe National Massage Therapy Awareness Week

Gary McGee, president of Harrison College’s Indianapolis East campus, has announced that the College will observe National Massage Therapy Awareness Week from Sunday, Oct. 23 through Saturday, Oct. 29, with special events, including free massages and assessments to the public on Tuesday, Oct. 25 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on campus at 8150 Brookville Road. Harrison College To Host Indiana State Superintendent

Greg Reger, president of Harrison College’s Indianapolis Downtown campus, has announced that the College will host Dr. Tony Bennett, Superintendent of Public Instruction for the State of Indiana, during an appearance on Tuesday, Oct. 18.
