Kent State's eMedia Management Program to Explore Crowdfunding

Brian Dengler, an attorney with Vorys, Sater, Seymour and Pease, will expand his path breaking course in Advanced eMedia Management at Kent State University to cover crowdfunding, venture capital and other advanced business structures for the evolving world of digital media. The course is entitled “Advanced eMedia Management,” and is offered as part of a new Masters Degree program in eMedia Management at the School of Journalism and Mass Communications at Kent State. Dengler taught the original course in 2011 and Kent State will offer the updated program during the 2012 fall semester.

GrowAmerica Business Competition Announces Winners

The first ever GrowAmerica competition took place this month, and on Monday the final round concluded. The competition was organized in an attempt to grow the economy in America, but this competition was focused specifically on Utah. Competitors submitted business plans in the first round, and those who advanced prepared a three-minute presentation in order to convince the judges that their plans would work. The competition included three categories: Idea, Start-Up, and Growth.

The purpose of the meeting was to define the priorities for supporting the development of the crowdfunding industry in Europe. As a result of the meeting, one priority was set to building a Europe-wide framework for crowdfunding, similar to what the CCA team has built with the Crowdfunding Investment Framework that was used in the U.S. JOBS Act to increase access to capital for entrepreneurs in the U.S.
