Detroit's legendary self-published, hip-hop provocateur delivers 31 tracks of dystopian lunacy on his violent new album, "Venus Flytrap". Available worldwide December 4th on CD and digital through his label, Aknu Media LLC, Esham's ultra-dark blend of shape shifting narratives channel visions of despair and mayhem in the Motor City's decaying underworld. Demonic trap music, suicidal soul samples and merciless waves of bass anchor a collection of black hearted bangers that will not be spreading holiday cheer this December. Instead, Esham devilishly draws listeners into his Mecca of debauchery and sugarcoats nothing as he hopelessly circumnavigates hell on earth.

BMI View: We project that Malaysian consumer electronics spending will grow by about 7% in US dollar terms during 2012 to US$8.4bn, with strong sales of smartphones and LED TV sets reported in Q112. Despite a sharp moderation in consumer demand apparent in early 2012, we still expect that sales will remain relatively robust in these key consumer electronics product segments. However, growth in consumer goods imports slowed for the fourth consecutive month from 33.1% y-o-y in September to 19.9% in December and growth in outstanding credit card balances has also remained on a steady downtrend since January 2011. We expect this trend to continue as growing concerns over the outlook for employment in the export sector weigh on consumer confidence. Malaysia has also emerged as one of the fastest-growing regional smartphone markets and vendors will look to product innovation to drive revenue, with growth areas also including tablets and smart TV sets.

BMI View: Kuwait is likely to remain dependent almost exclusively on oil and gas for its energy needs for the foreseeable future. Following the 2011 Fukushima tragedy in Japan, nuclear energy has largely dropped out of usage, while renewable energy remains only a very minor segment of the country's energy mix. Much of the planned new generating capacity is gas-fired, with oil often used as a back-up fuel. The aim is to make more of the country's oil available for export, even if this leads to a growing reliance on imported gas. Hints at a major renewables programme have yet to convince industry insiders. Low power costs mean that project economics are unlikely to attract foreign investors, so Kuwait looks set to go it alone in meeting growing power demand.

BMI projects that Hong Kong consumer electronics spending will grow by about 5% in US dollar terms in 2012 to US$4.4bn, but a moderation in consumer demand is expected. Vendors anticipate bright spots such as tablets and ultrabooks, but a wealth effect from any cooling in property prices and an equity market that appears to have peaked could have an impact on consumer spending. BMI expects consumer electronics to outperform general retail sales, and the release of Windows 8 will provide a boost to the PC market. However, demand has been muted by slowing inbound tourism as well as poor domestic consumer sentiment. Sales trended upwards in 2011, with year-on-year (y-o-y) growth in key product categories such as TV sets, tablet computers and digital cameras. Product innovation will continue to drive growth in the AV segment, while demand will continue to be spurred by the influx of mainland tourists.

Political uncertainty will continue to affect the Egyptian economy in 2013 as the country continues upon its rocky transitional period towards democracy. This uncertainty will, in turn, continue to affect the shipping sector as a worsening economic position will impact on the country's imports through the ports. Further, Egypt is struggling to maintain foreign reserves as foreign investment has dried up since the ouster of President Mubarak as investors wait to see what the future holds. In light of this a Qatari plan to invest in a new industrial and ports complex near the Suez Canal will come as a relief to the sector. The presence of the waterway in Egyptian territory provides an important source of income in fees and associated businesses to the Egyptian economy.

The Brazil Tourism Report examines the significant long-term potential being offered by the local tourism industry, especially with the country hosting the football World Cup in 2014 and then the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro in 2016. However, we also flag up short-term concerns about the lack of adequate nationwide airport infrastructure and hotel room supply in major Brazilian cities, both of which pose clear challenges to the short-term development of the local tourism sector.

Kuwait IT spending is expected to reach US$937mn in 2012, up 9%, with BMI upwardly revising its forecast due to macroeconomic factors. Kuwait, the third-largest computer market in the Gulf, should offer favourable IT market trading conditions in 2012, and local IT spending should continue to provide opportunities for IT vendors over our five-year forecast period. Drivers will include government projects, population growth, and strong demand from the construction and oil and gas sectors.

Sanctions on the country are continuing to bite, resulting in a fall in oil export volumes and revenues. Gas export schemes and refinery expansion projects will make little progress as international oil company (IOC) partners heed the investment embargo, meaning the overall outlook will continue to deteriorate unless there is a breakthrough in the nuclear stalemate. Meanwhile, Iran is claiming a succession of major oil and gas discoveries that, if proven, demonstrate considerable upside potential to its existing resource base.

Despite an investment focused and inflated budget for 2012 and a US$250bn-US$275bn investment plan for the five years following (2013-2017), we are maintaining our outlook for growth in Iraq's construction sector to underperform potential, with an annual average growth rate of 7.7% anticipated between 2012 and 2016. In order to incorporate these spending plans fully into our forecast we would need to see improvements in political relations, institutional capacity, budget execution rates and regulations. Until this point investment plans announced will be unlikely to be translated into industry value creation.

The Israel Retail Report examines the long-term potential of the local consumer market, but flags shortterm concerns about the impact on Israel's economic outlook of a rapidly deflating housing market. The report examines how best to maximise returns in the Israeli retail market while minimising investment risk, and also explores the impact of lacklustre external demand due to the slump in Europe and the US on the Israeli consumer and on the ability of producers and exporters to realise returns in the short term.
